Message from the Rector cum Officiating Principal

Welcome to the CST Darjeeling website.

It’s a privilege for me to serve my alma mater CST Darjeeling as its Rector cum Officiating Principal. When I joined here 6 months ago, both our former Principal and the Rector were on the verge of leaving as they had already been issued their transfer order from our headquarter. So, I had had only a couple of days’ interaction with them to learn as many things as possible within such a short time.

As someone who has spent almost all his life educating the children entrusted in our care, it’s my strong conviction that no school can succeed without staff collaboration or ‘team work’. I also believe in a school culture where teachers and parents work together to help children get the most out of their assignments. To bridge home and school, parents and teachers have been requested to use the ‘student diary’ to maintain an open line of communication by sharing notes on the student’s progress. I am happy to learn that the ‘student’s diary’ is being used as a means of communication among the 3 stakeholders – teachers, parents and children.

My expectations for children: Ask questions whenever you have doubts, complete your assignments each day and actively participate in class discussions.

My expectations for parents: Use the student diary to find out the relevant information regarding your child’s performance on their homework, test as well as their attendance. Please, don’t forget that your interest and concern in their school progress will motivate them to do their work. Get involved by asking your children a few specific questions about their time at school. For example, What was the most interesting lesson you learnt today in your English class?’ or ‘Tell me something about your class test today or your science experiment’.

My expectations for teachers:
Teach the children the value of hard work by first becoming you the role model of a hard working teacher. Make teaching interesting so that children do not get bored. One of the reasons why children bunk classes is due to dull teaching.

Every effort will be made to use all tools available to inspire staff, students and community to work together to promote student achievement and well being.

If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me and know that my door is always open. I can be reached at

Happy school year!
